Radio Personality? On-Air Mixer? Club DJ? Remixer? Video DJ? Part of the World Champion Los Angeles Lakers? Owner of a DJ Business! All these things should come to mind when you mention the name Kid Jay.

Kid Jay is currently on the Inland Empire #1 Radio Station 99.1 KGGI as an on-air Personality and an All Star Mixer. He can be heard on-air throughout the weekend as well as mixing live. He is the owner and founder ofJ & J Entertainment, the hottest DJ Company in L.A., O.C., and the I.E. He has been a part of the Lakers organization for 18 years as a team attendant (yes he has three rings now), Lakers TV Host and DJ, he is one of the original members of the artist management group Royaltree where he showcases his turntablism and bringing Video Mixing to the masses as the next generations of entertainment, he is constantly trying improve his own trail by keeping in touch with the music and culture. And, to think it all started by accident.

Growing up in Long Beach, CA. There weren't many radio station that played Hip Hop music, as a matter of fact there was only one, it was KDAY. 1580 AM on the dial is what Kid Jay would listen too day and night try to mimic the DJ's and copy there mixing style on a reel-2-reel. Finally at the age of 16 he bought his first turntable from a guy on the street for $10, and his first record, "Do me baby" by BBD. Kid Jay's dream of being a DJ was becoming a reality until he realized that buying new records and equipment was costly and growing up without any money did not mix, so the DJing was put aside for a few years.

In college, Kid Jay was a President of a social service club named Junior Exchange. The club was very short on funds and needed to make some money quick so they decide to throw the biggest party Long Beach had ever seen. Lacking funds, the club couldn't afford a DJ, so Kid Jay step in and dusted off those old records, and borrowed equipment & records from another DJ for free beer & entrance into the party. But just by word of mouth and flyers weren't going make this the party that Kid Jay had envisioned. So he called the hottest Radio Station at that time, Power 106, and asked to be a guest DJ on Frank Lozano's Night Show. Kid Jay and his crew went to Power 106 and promoted their party and it was a huge success. But Frank Lozano saw a drive in Kid Jay's eyes that he knew was special and invited Kid Jay to come back to Power 106 so he could show him how to run a Radio Station Studio. He also mentioned Kid Jay's name to the Promotion Director of the Radio Station.

One day the Promotion Director of Power 106 called Kid Jay and asked if he would be interested in interning over the summer in the Promotions Department. Of course he accepted and the internship lasted only one month before he was hired as a street team member. 6 months later, Street Team Coordinator, a few months after that he was the Street Kid for the Baka Boyz in the morning. At this point of time, Kid Jay's goals were to become a On-Air Personality instead of a mixer, and his dream came true one Sunday Night when a part-time jock didn't show up to her shift (Thanks Yo-Yo). The Program Director gave Kid Jay one hour out of the 4-hour shift to do his thing on-air, and if it was good enough he would join the part-time on-air crew. Sure enough the Program Director loved his tape and added Kid Jay to the On-Air DJ crew.

Finally a goal accomplished and loving life, then new management move into the Radio Station and Kid Jay was let go. After a short time of disappointment, Kid Jay realized that he had logged enough air time and had enough talent to pick up and move on to another radio and sure enough he landed a job on San Diego's Jammin Z90.

Jammin Z90 was only looking for part-timers when Kid Jay got started, but he was determined to win over the approval of the Program Director, Management, fellow employees, and the listeners of San Diego. He would work a air shift from 10pm - 2am., sleep in his car for 2 or 3 hours and return to do another air shift at 6am - 10am and again return to do another shift that same day at 2pm or 6pm. At one point over the holiday seasons he worked on air for 43 days strait days and stayed either in a motel or a car for shelter. All the hard work paid off and Z90 made Kid Jay part of the family full-time. With new duties and responsibility Kid Jay went back to practicing on the turntables and also became one of the mixers on Jammin Z90.

After a very successful stint at Jammin Z90 in San Diego, the management was changed and Kid Jay left with his old management. This time around Kid Jay took a break from Radio and concentrated on his DJ Business "J & J Entertainment" and the Los Angeles Lakers. The L.A. Lakers recognized the talent that Kid Jay Possessed and hired him as a Co-Host for Lakers TV as well as a DJ for the Lakers and the Parades. A radio station would come knocking again, as 99.1 KGGI in Riverside ask Kid Jay if he would join their family as a Personality & Mixer for the station, he accepted and now is a part of the #1 Radio Station in the I.E.

Being on-air, mixing for Radio and the Lakers wasn?t enough for Kid Jay, his drive and determination took him to even greater goals as he began DJing celebrity parties, hosting and DJing at all Lowrider Car Shows, appearing in TV shows as a DJ and became the opening DJ for George Lopez?s Comedy Show. Kid Jay has become a DJ to the TV industries and corporate world as he has DJ parties for the E.R. Finale Party, Grey?s Anatomy, George Lopez 100 show party, Playboy, The Biggest Loser, Coca Cola, American Express, American Airlines, Microsoft, and Electronic Arts just to name a few.

"I love music, people, and taking on new projects. That's what drives me everyday to push myself to succeed," Kid Jay says proudly. Kid Jay can be heard on 99.1 KGGI every Saturday from 2p - 6pm with his usual off the wall humor, playing music at all Lakers home games, making a appearance at a George Lopez Comedy Show, hosting and DJing at a Lowrider Car Show, popping up on your TV screen as a DJ, video mixing or showing up at a club you might be having a good time at!
